CODE OF BUSINESS CONDUCT

THE COMMITMENT OF INTEGRITY


INITIATIV Code of business conduct is a set of standards for our business operation. It provides the ethical and behavioral guideline on which we base our actions every day. The code is anchored in our core values that direct the behaviors and practices of our team members. The code of conduct provides a series of principles that our company members and our network professionals and specialists must engage to their daily activities in delivering services and works on the behalf of INITIATIV. In addition, INITIATIV strives to work in collaboration with other organizations and individuals to encourage and contribute to UN Sustainable Development Goal 4: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote life-long learning opportunities for all, and the Goal 17: Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.

 

We create policies and professional standards that apply to every company members and others working on our behalf. Any potential breach of these ethical standards is subject to comprehensive investigation, with appropriate action taken. By delivering on the promise of our code, we protect and enhance the reputation of INITIATIV, and play a key role in building a good governance working context for our members, for our clients and for our communities.

Responsibilities to the Profession


Knowledge

Our members shall keep informed of the applicable Code of Business Conduct and the profession’s Common Body of Knowledge.

A member shall strive to keep current with developments in any area of the profession where specific expertise is claimed.

 

Self-Discipline

Our members shall recognize that the self-disciplinary nature of the profession is a privilege and that the members have a responsibility to merit retention of this privilege. Therefore, a member shall report to company unbecoming professional conduct by another member.

 

Responsibilities for Others

Our members shall ensure that other members and networks carrying out work on the behalf of INITIATIV are conversant with, and abide by, the applicable Code of Business Conduct.

Our members and networks shall behave in a manner that maintains the good reputation of the profession. Members shall avoid activities that adversely affect the quality of that member’s professional advice. Members may not carry on business that clearly detracts from the member’s professional status.

 

Review of a Member’s Work

A member and network who has been assigned or requested to review critically the work of another member/network shall inform that member/network before undertaking the work.

 

Responsibilities to the Public and Communities


Legal

The company and members shall act in accordance with the applicable legislation and laws.

 

Representation

The company shall make representation on behalf of provincial, regional, national, or international institute members only when authorized.

 

Social Responsibility

The company and members shall concern and take seriously for philanthropic responsibility and the environmental sustainability.

Responsibilities to the Client


Professionalism

Our members and networks shall act in the best interest of the client, providing professional services with integrity, objectivity, and priority. A member/network shall not encourage unrealistic client expectations.

 

Competence

The company will assign our members/networks to take accountability for the assignments that the member/network has the knowledge and skill to perform.

 

Transparency

The company shall, before accepting an assignment, reach a mutual understanding with the client as to the assignment objectives, scope, work plan, and costs.

 

Conflict

The company and members shall avoid acting simultaneously for two or more clients in potentially conflicting situations without informing all parties in advance and securing their agreement to the arrangement. The company shall inform a client of any interest that may impair or may be seen to impair professional judgment.

Our members shall not take advantage of a client relationship by encouraging, unless by way of an advertisement, an employee of that client to consider alternate employment without prior discussion with the client.

 

Confidentiality

The company and our members/networks shall treat all client information as confidential.

 

Objectivity

The company and our members shall refrain from serving a client under terms or conditions that impair independence and we shall reserve the right to withdraw from the assignment if such becomes the case.
